MILEY'S TOURING DANCE ROUTINE
Menu: Info. Photos. Shop.
Miley admits touring has always managed to get her quickly in shape, and how she's always her most fit by the time they rap off. Of course there's a lot more to touring than what we see on stage, there's previous and ongoing rehearsals, hectic shedule of traveling and promo, and let alone the stress! The core though, is simple: 50 minutes of all-fun, full-energy aerobics. Keep that up every other day of the week and in a couple months you'll see amazing results just like Miley.
Weather you sign up for a dancing class or simply copy the routines of Best Of Both Worlds Tour DVD step-by-step in your room, the key is simple: move your body! Dancing is great for your body and your mood. We all know when we're feeling a bit low, dancing can lift us up. Dancing reduces stress, increases energy, improves strengh, muscle tone and coordination, plus it builds endurace. Through this, studies show dancing lowers your risk of coronary heart disease, decrease blood pressure, strengthen the bones of your legs and hips, and of course helps you manage your weight.
Motivation for the excersice itself, aka dancing, makes this a great choice if you're not into the typical gym routines. In fact the more integrated into your life excersice gets, the better it is according to experts, cos you stick with it. Dancing, moving, excercising becomes part of you who you are, instead of just one more thing you ought to do.
Dancing lifts us up... reduces stress, increases energy, improves strengh, muscle tone, coordination and flexibility, and builds endurace. Turn up the music!
To make your dancing routine closer to Miley's touring-excersice you just stick with the timings: 50 minutes "shows", 3 or 4 times a week. Of course, graduate both time and intensity as you go. That is though, definitely your goal for a tour-routine. Nowadays health experts recomend 30 minutes of aerobic excersice a day, just walking steady will do. So this routine would easily do for more than half the excersice you could possibly need. Not that you should be worrying about counting minutes, the only minutes you'll be counting are down to your next class!!
Any Miley coreography is more than enough for steps inspiration, while in class you'll be shown everything you need too. But there's parts of dancing we don't see in videos, or might be doing in class without knowning why or caring... but they're just as essential. A good warm up, streching and cooling will help keep up with the routine, and prevent any injuries. Plus it sets you in the right state of mind preparing you for the efford to come, and in the cooling part prepare to go back into the daily errands. Streching will take you to all new levels of moments cos there'll be so much more you'll be fisically able to do.
Warming up is precisely all about body temperature. You get the heart pounding, improving circulation that takes the nutrients and oxygen muscles require to excersice.
Warm Up
Start you warm up by slowly moving all your joints, from neck to toes - always breathing calmly and deeply.
From there we need to start adding more speed to movements and letting them integrate the entire body. You can try the same movements you've been doing for joints or go with basic dance steps. The key is starting gently and as you repeat the same step add more to it. If you know some Yoga, the Sun Salute is a great option and around three repetitions you'll do just fine.
Now you're reading to strech
Strech
Streching is part of both the warm up and cooling. There's two major things to know about streching. A) You need to sustain the streching. In other words don't go all the way to your toes, count to 3 and let go; then try it again. Instead reach first for your knees and slowly make your way to your feet, but never letting go. This way it will be much more effective. Get used to streching an entire muscle group (legs, arms) before moving on to the next one instead of mixing streching excersicing all through-out. It'll be easier for the muscles you're working and help you check you've covered all muscle groups. B) Coordinate streching with your breathing. Relax when you breath in and but on a lil more efford when you breath out. Stay in each possition at least three exhalations (remember the longer they are the better, all through the day). Since flexibility is essential to dancing you may spend a little more time streching, but the basic needed at this stage is 5 to 10 minutes.
Static stretching is performed by placing the body into a position whereby the muscle or group of muscles to be stretched is under tension. Both the opposing muscle group (the muscles behind or in front of the stretched muscle), and the muscles to be stretched are relaxed. Then slowly and cautiously the body is moved to increase the tension of the muscle, or group of muscles to be stretched. At this point the position is held or maintained to allow the muscles and tendons to lengthen.
Cooling
After you've finished your dancing routine and before you hit the shower, you might be totally tired but it's really important you strech and move joints again. This will prevent you from feeling soar the next day. Switch to some of Miley's balads and start cooling. Be sure to specially strech legs and any muscles you particually worked on. It will be much easier for you to go the distance streching now cos your body is really warm, so take advantage of it and spend a few more minutes on it. You will see the results in your flexibility in no time.
Now that you know the basics and have even healthy reasons to do it... what are you waiting for..? Turn up the music and DANCE!
