2 Ways to Wear Bright Shadow
The beauty scoop: A splash of vivid color is a great way to liven up any midwinter lid look, but applying intense hues can be intimidating. Here are Siegel's two favorite really easy ways to wear a vibrant hue.
Look #1
A Fine Line
Use a thin liner brush to rim only the outer corner of your eye, right at the roots of your lashes. Then blend the shadow along the entire length of your lower lash line. |
 |
Look #2
Two-Tone Lids
First, sweep a light coat of shadow onto your lid and up into the crease to create a wash of color. Next, wet your liner brush and dip it into the shadow (the water will make the color look richer). Position the brush on the outer corner of your upper lash line and wiggle it along your lashes toward your inner corner. This will give the eye definition. [UP^]. |

The Smoky Cat Eye
You've sure seen Brit in this so here we have all the tips form make-up artist Alexis Vogel sharing the secrets. Vogel says, “You can do this look as subtle or dramatic as you want,” and suggests using
light grays, burgundy’s and dark khakis as subtle colors. Listed below are tips on how to achieve the more dramatic version a la Miley's Can't Be Tamed looks. |
What You Will Need:
1. Cake eyeliner in Black
2. Eyeliner brush
3. Eyeshadow brush
4. Q-Tips
5. Chubby pencil in dark shades
6. Dark color eyeshadow (Alexis Vogel’s Masquerade was made specifically for this look).
"You don't want the color to be too matte or too shiny—it just needs a little iridescence. Flat matte colors are too hard and shiny colors are too messy"
“You don't want the color to be too matte or too shiny—it just needs a little iridescence. Flat matte colors are too hard and shiny colors are too messy,” explains Vogel.
7. Black mascara
8. One pair (two if you’re daring) of Ardel demi whispies. Individual lashes can be used for a more subtle look, and also to enhance the upper outer lashes to pull your eyes up and open and angle them up for cat-shaped eyes.
9. A good eyebrow pencil
10. Highlight shimmer for under the eyebrow.
The How To's:
- Make sure you’ve applied your foundation, concealer and powder. (Don’t forget to powder your under-eye concealer
too!)
- Start by using your chubby pencil. Stroke from the front corner to the end of your lash line drawing a soft smudgy
line.
- With the eyeliner brush apply a dark eyeshadow (like Masquerade) against your smudged line for a soft smoky
look.
- Moisten your q-tip and gently blend the edges.
- For the top eyeliner: Take your eyeliner brush with the cake eyeliner for an awesome cat eye shape or look. Place
your index finger at the end of your eyebrow and gently stroke your eyeliner down towards your lashes, going from
a thicker line at the outer corner and getting thinner as you go inward. Apply line thickness to desired look and
stroke down into your natural lashes.
- Take your eyeshadow brush and dip it into shadow. Think of your eye as a picture frame to pop out or enhance your
eye by applying the shadow from the bottom corner continuing up into the top eyeliner, connecting the top and
bottom eyeliners (like a sideways V). Stay in the creases only and go from the outer end of the crease to the
inner.
- For a super glam look, fill in the whole eyelid with your eyeshadow. Don't worry if you make a mistake. Q-tips are
like erasers.
- Curl lashes, then apply a coat of mascara. (ALWAYS use an eyelash curler to curl your eyelashes before applying
mascara.) The trick to the cat eye is to pull everything up and out. If you want even more enhancement, throw on
one pair of lashes—and if you are daring enough throw on a second pair. Do not put another layer of mascara on
top of that. You want the lashes to be fluffy, flirty and sexy.
- To polish this look off, draw a nice brow with a little bit of an arch and apply some super shimmer highlight on your
eyebrow bone. You can't have color and glitter on your eye for a smoky look but you can put some on your brow
bone as an accessory. Now you are ready to go out and have fun and be colorful! [UP^]

Sun-Kissed Skin
Learning how to get sun kissed skin using makeup can help you enhance the beauty of your skin as sun kissed skin looks healthy and has a certain glow which attracts attention and softens the facial features of a person.
Natural beauty is considered timeless and this means you can use a minimum amount of makeup just to put your best features into value, thing which will make you look and feel so much better in your own skin. Getting that sun kissed look without turning to tanning products is very easy as bronzer is one makeup product which can help create a lovely radiant sun kissed effect which you can benefit from as often as you wish.
Bronzers come in different forms such as cream, compact, powder as well as pearls and they are all meant to give you the same result, gorgeous sun kissed skin. In order to ensure you get a flawless result you need to ensure you follow the application steps thoroughly, so here is how you can get a sun kissed skin using makeup:
Choose the right bronzer for your skin type as bronzers come in different shades to suit different types of complexion. To get the best results use a bronzer which is two shades darker than your natural skin tone. If you have a fair skin tone choose a honey colored bronzer, if you have a medium tone complexion go for rose-gold colored bronzer and if you have tanned or dark skin choose a brown colored bronzer.
A wide fluffy powder brush works much better than sponges or your fingers to apply bronzer.
Certain bronzers have multiple shades and look like they are marbled but they are only meant to give you an even more perfect sun kissed look.
Choose a wide fluffy powder brush to apply the bronzer as it will work much better as if you were using other sponges or your fingers. The brush will ensure you apply just enough product and exactly where you want it to look gorgeous.
The bronzer is applied directly to the skin without using foundation as it can smudge and look unappealing so in order to obtain a perfect look you need to apply a tiny amount of translucent powder to ensure the skin is not oily, which would have the same effect as the foundation on the bronzer. If however your skin is dry but not flaky you can apply the bronzer without the powder first or you can just use a cream bronzer. If you have dry flaky skin moisturize the skin first and then apply the powder after which you will continue with the bronzer.
Use the fluffy brush to apply the bronzer on the areas which are usually more exposed to the sun such as the cheekbones, the temples, the bridge of the nose and the chin to get a natural look that glows. Do not cover your entire face as this will not allow the bronzer to create the desired effect.
Stand in the light when applying the bronzer to observe just how much bronzer you need to apply to look gorgeous. [Thanks to becomegourgeous.com] [UP^] |
